We are looking for a communications officer to lead our internal
communications within the Catholic Archdiocese of Dublin and external
communication with the wider society.
It is an exciting time in the Archdiocese, with a new Archbishop in
post, many pastoral initiatives being undertaken, restructuring plans
being developed, and hope-filled ministries and services being
delivered every day of the year.
The communications officer will be located within the Dublin Diocesan
Offices and will need to understand the work of the many and varied
skilled professionals operating within the diocesan family. Their work
includes pastoral and ministry activity, education, finance,
safeguarding, archives, governance, legal and the general secretariat.

schools, and special ministries in hospitals, prisons and colleges
around the Archdiocese.
ABOUT YOU: We are looking for a candidate with a qualification in and
passion for communication who has a strong proven record of managing
communications strategy, capable of producing excellent copy and
delivery of core messages across a range of platforms. Our candidate
will have excellent interpersonal skills, be educated to degree level,
be organised, creative and a good team player. Five years?
experience would be an advantage.
Our ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of the Catholic
Church, its internal structures, mission and history, and share the
ethos and values of the Church.
ABOUT US: We are the administrative arm of the Catholic Church in
Dublin. The pastoral and spiritual leadership of the diocese is
entrusted to the Archbishop. He has gathered around him a talented
leadership group with the capacity to sustain the day to day operation
of the Archdiocese. The diocesan offices are interconnected and the
flow of information between them and with parishes is vital to the
delivery of our mission. The relationship of the offices with the
parishes and people of the diocese is a core priority.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
* INTERNAL COMMUNICATION: creating content flow that ensures that the
entire administration of the diocese and its parishes are well
informed about current and proposed activities and initiatives being
undertaken and planned.
* SOCIAL MEDIA: writing and posting content for Twitter, Instagram
etc.
* WEBSITE: Maintaining and developing the website, updating content,
and supporting the making of various diocesan initiatives known.
* RESOURCES: Developing and providing resources focused on faith -
particularly online resources, highlighting the liturgical year, the
social outreach of the Church, prayer, spirituality etc.
* MEDIA; bringing information about diocesan events, activities and
initiatives to the local and national media, both print and broadcast,
developing relationships with people of interest in these
organisations.
